Rosalia released her album Lux on Friday, which she described as showcasing “maximalism” in an interview with Zane Lowe.

“I think the best fiction is the fiction that has the storyline between what’s personal and what’s universal, what’s detailed and what’s abstract,” she told him in their conversation, which aired Thursday. “There has to be some sort of truth or meaning, but at the same time, I think it’s much more about the other — if you are writing from this place, then you can sing from this place.”

“I promised myself I was gonna make an album where I was going to finish the thought, finish the song, go all the way ’til the end,” she added. “Motomami was minimalist. This is maximalism.”

Motomami arrived in 2022.

Lux features 15 songs, including “Sexo, Violencia y Llantas,” “Reliquia,” “Divinize,” “Porcelana,” “Mio Cristo Piange Diamanti,” “Berghain,” “La Perla,” “Mundo Nueo,” “De Madruga,” “Dios Es Un Stalker,” “La Yugular,” “Sauvignon Blanc,” “La Rumba Del Perdon,” “Memoria” and “Magnolias.”

In “Reliquia,” she sings about never being in possession of her own heart.

“I always hand it out. Take a piece of me. Keep it for when I’m away. I’ll be your relic,” she sings.

Lorde commented on Rosalia’s previous Instagram post promoting the album.

“Ummm, this comes out on my birthday!” she wrote.
